COMMENT: The Championship encapsulated in a week

The competitiveness of a unique league has revealed itself across seven days that have stirred contrasting emotions.

If ever a week summed up the competitiveness of the Championship over quality then there it was. All three of Wolves’ matches could have ended in different scorelines. Arguably, there was little to choose in any of them, with matches being decided on moments rather than genuine spells of quality.

It is still difficult to make firm judgements given Wolves have faced only nine of the 23 other teams in the league but if, come May, the only genuine quality turned out to be West Ham United, few would be surprised. The depth and attacking options in Nuno Espirito’s side make them hard to look past, although the work of Swansea City manager Vitor Matos since taking over in November last year is to be noted.
