Until there is more activity in the transfer market there will always be concern amongst the Wolves faithful but, ignoring that considerable elephant in the room, there are perhaps the first signs of optimism as we head into the Championship season. The Port Vale cup test was ultimately passed with ease.

But, oh, what a slog awaits. A marathon of wintry midweeks and weekends with all the old favourites back in town. Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers, Derby County, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Cardiff City. Ah, how lovely to see you all again. These familiar foes, so often in town down the years.
