If Wolves could complete a deal for the Stade Rennes midfielder Jordan James it would represent the clearest indication yet of a strategic plan for the squad this season, while also reassuring supporters that this transfer window can still be a genuine success.
James was out on loan at Leicester City last season where, in a struggling Championship side, he scored one goal in every two games for the minutes he spent on the pitch. His 15 goal involvements overall indicated just what a threat he can be on the ball from an advanced midfield role.
His attacking statistics are impressive and he fits into the high press system that Cesar Peixoto wants to impose on the Championship this season. James lost possession on average only 0.89 times per 90 minutes last season which, for an attacking midfielder in a relegated team, represents a significant amount of control to his game.
