Goal scorer Amy Sims was delighted to play a crucial part in Wolves Women’s first ever WSL 2 victory after her fantastic strike guided Dan McNamara’s side to a 3-1 result over Sheffield United on Sunday.
“I think in the first half, we were probably disappointed not to capitalise on some of the pressure that we'd put on their goal,” she tells The Wanderers Post. “So we knew going into the second half that we just needed to close our doors and get into them.
“When Amber [Hughes] scored that goal, I think then it just got better and better. We'll be disappointed with the goal that we conceded, of course, but to get three goals and really nicely worked goals as well - the third goal was worked really well and Yan [Yana Daniëls], finished it nicely - to actually compete and put in a good performance with the win, that's really pleasing.
