Back at the start of the 1992/93 season, the Bull and Mutch combo was disrupted when the latter picked up an injury. Throughout the deadly duo’s time at the club, various understudies came and went, unable to live up to the expectations set by the club’s first choice strike pairing.

On this occasion it was Roberts who stepped into the void and, on his full debut, he scored a first half hat-trick as Wolves went into the break with an astonishing four-goal lead.
