A confident Wolves performance saw off Preston North End in style, as a brace from Fer Lopez alongside a goal from Adam Armstrong secured a first league win of the season and sent supporters home delighted. Lopez believes Wolves’ growing confidence and commitment to their style of play will be key to their ambitions this season, after starring in Saturday’s victory. His two goals may have grabbed the headlines, but the player was more focused on the three points.
“The important thing was winning,” he said. “It was a disappointing result last week but I checked the results and Blackburn beat Middlesbrough at home and West Ham lost at home, so every game is hard and getting three points was the most important thing.”
