Cesar Peixoto has confirmed that star striker Raul Jimenez is unavailable for the upcoming Black Country derby, after being substituted due to a knee injury in Wolves’ Carabao Cup defeat against Everton.

Wolves held a pretty solid account of themselves during spells in the game, but Charly Alcaraz’s effort in the final moments proved to be enough to seal Everton’s place in the next round.

The defeat was entirely overshadowed by the injury blow to Wolves’ number nine, who could well take longer than the international break to recover.

"Unfortunately we are frustrated because Raul will be injured for a few weeks,” Peixoto told The Wanderers Post. “Not a muscle injury, an injury in the knee - but not bad. He's a key player for us and we are frustrated because he was only playing 45 minutes, like Krejci, but he needs minutes to stay fit for the next game.
