It should be written into EFL regulations that Wolves must play in all gold away from home. What a joy it was to see Cesar Peixoto’s side resplendent in that lovely strip on Saturday. With a packed away end at Deepdale, there was a nod to the last time Wolves played away from home in the Championship – another Lancashire trip and another all-gold display, beating Bolton Wanderers 4-0 on the way to the title back in April 2018. Halcyon days.
Anyway, we are digressing. Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday will be an altogether more low key event following hot on the heels of a genuinely uplifting road trip. There will still be a healthy visiting contingent, given the circumstances, but far fewer than made it up to Preston on Saturday.
