Stoke City Preview: Peixoto has options despite injury issues, as the Wolves’ head coach looks to build on solid start

Nothing screams Championship more than Stoke City. Even in their Premier League up-and-at-‘em Tony Pulis era, it still felt like a Championship club. So perhaps it was inevitable that a first league meeting between the two clubs in 15 seasons would have to take place in this godforsaken division.

This Staffordshire bunfight is not a derby but there is enough niggle to peak the interest of both sets of supporters. Yet, there is more in common than we care to admit. Founder members of the Football League and clubs deeply rooted in their communities. This is a proper football match.

And, without sounding all Pulis, Mark Robins is a proper football manager. Understated and with more miles in the tank than Marco Polo, he knows the ins and outs of fixtures at this level. And that makes a nice contrast with our own Cesar Peixoto, whose fledgling Championship career has been pleasing on the eye, with four points from the opening two games.
